Compass Outreach Program

MapWorks Tulsa is excited to begin our next phase of implementing an innovative MapWorks Tulsa Compass outreach program for Tulsa youth on the benefits of mapping while also appreciating the geography, diversity, culture and history of Tulsa. Coinciding with our mission of fostering unity, inclusion and identity, The Tulsa Map® will be used as a tool to strengthen connections between Tulsa residents and the places they share, as well as understanding the spaces between them.

Research shows that the educational benefits of maps include development of critical thinking skills, understanding of technology, and collaboration – all of which leads to better academic outcomes.

Maps also teach skills such as geography and spatial awareness while providing cultural and historical context. Maps are an efficient and effective tool in the learning process.
