North Tulsa

North Tulsa originally referred to the area north of the Frisco Railroad tracks up to the northern city limits. Admiral Boulevard later became the popular boundary line with neighborhoods branching in all directions. North Tulsa is home to a large percentage of Tulsa’s African-American community in addition to a diverse population of Tulsans. This area of Tulsa features locally owned businesses such as Fulton Street Books & Coffee, great barbeque, flavorful restaurants and cafes, as well as The Outsiders House Museum. Northeast of downtown, close to Tulsa International Airport, is Mohawk Park, which includes the Tulsa Zoo and the Oxley Nature Center, and the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. In Northwest Tulsa is Tulsa Country Club, founded in 1908, in the Osage Hills landscape along with Gilcrease Museum, known for its world class collection (temporarily closed for construction).
